Not surprisingly, I had even more to say on decorating with pottery, plants and flowers - here’s the full text of what I contributed:

As you spruce up your space for the spring, there’s nothing better than bringing some life to a freshly cleaned surface with an artfully potted plant or cut flowers, whether it’s a kitchen shelf, an end table, or a window sill. I love using mugs from my personal collection as cache pots for small plants, as they easily tuck into all kinds of corners around the house. One note, though, you should not plant directly into pots without drainage, we don't want soggy roots! It’s important that water can pass through, so I’ll often pot them into small plastic cups with holes I either cut or poke through with a soldering iron in a well ventilated area. Having plants thriving in your home is a great way to soften sharp corners in the architecture and bring about an overall sense of tranquility in your living space.
